What does Frontwatt do?
Frontwatt forecasts the output of wind, solar, hydro and geothermal plants as a range for every hour, picks the day-ahead schedule with the lowest expected imbalance cost and scores every forecast against metered output. See how it works.
What is a probabilistic forecast?
A forecast that gives the likely range of output for every hour instead of one number. P50 is the median; there is a 10% chance output falls below P10 and a 10% chance it rises above P90. More about P10, P50 and P90.
Which plant types can Frontwatt forecast?
Wind farms, modelled turbine by turbine, solar PV plants, hydro plants, whether run-of-river, canal or reservoir, and geothermal plants.
Which weather models does Frontwatt use?
AI-based and physics-based global ensemble models, including the ECMWF IFS and AIFS ensembles. Together they give over 100 weather scenarios per run. The mix changes as we test new models against measured output.
Do you need our SCADA data to start?
No. The physical models work from plant data such as location, capacity and turbine or panel details. Metered output makes the forecast sharper over time, and in Türkiye the hourly output of licensed plants is public.
How accurate are your forecasts?
It depends on the plant, the terrain and the season, so we do not quote a single number. During a pilot you see daily scores for your own plants next to your current schedule, calculated with these rules.
How is the day-ahead schedule chosen?
For every hour, Frontwatt evaluates candidate schedules against all forecast scenarios and keeps the one with the lowest expected cost under your market's imbalance prices and penalty bands. How it works.
Can Frontwatt submit our KGÜP?
Frontwatt prepares the KGÜP in formats accepted by TEİAŞ's TPYS, Excel, CSV and ENTSO-E XML, after your approval, and you or your aggregator submit it. Direct submission through TEİAŞ web services is in preparation. Frontwatt in Türkiye.
Which markets do you support?
Türkiye is live, with KGÜP schedules, EPİAŞ data and imbalance and KÜPST cost tracking. Europe is planned next, with ENTSO-E schedule documents and 15-minute resolution. For other markets we provide probabilistic forecasts on request.
How often is the forecast updated?
Each time a new run of one of the weather models is published, several times a day. The day-ahead schedule is ready before the market deadline.
How do we receive the forecasts?
In the web dashboard, as Excel, CSV and ENTSO-E XML exports, or through the REST API.
How is our data protected?
Each portfolio is kept separate from every other and has its own access keys. Your production data is used only to forecast your plants and is never shared with other customers.
What does Frontwatt cost?
Pricing depends on the number and size of your plants and on the markets you need. Book a demo and we will send you a proposal.
